Join the Team (old)

We are looking for passionate students to join starting Fall Semester, 2018.

Our student initiative is based at ETH Zürich and inspires students across Switzerland in hands-on space engineering challenges through collaboration with academia and industry. Our main project is the participation at the Spaceport America Cup.

Following our Project TELL, ARIS participates at the Spaceport America Cup 2019 with a rocket using a commercial solid motor flying to 10’000 ft. For this, an interdisciplinary core team of 20 students is formed that builds the rocket and participates at the competition in the US.Our student initiative is based at ETH Zürich and inspires students across Switzerland in hands-on space engineering challenges through collaboration with academia and industry.

Simulations Team

The responsibility of the team consists of collaborating iteratively with the whole team in setting up the hard constraints on our system. What is our target weight? How large are our fins? How do we distribute mass? What is the optimal diameter? Are we stable?

System Engineers

The responsibilities include keeping the system view: set up and track the mass, power and data, budget, coordinate the technical progress and testing activities, tracking requirements, ensuring proper documentation, meeting of deadlines and organising launch operations.

Project Manager Rocket Team

The project manager’s responsibility is to lead the interdisciplinary team and create an atmosphere in which team members can perform in their best way. We require particularly high integrity and the project manager will be rewarded with an incredible leadership experience and network.

Structure Team

The responsibility of the Structure Team is the design and manufacturing of the load carrying rocket structure. During the design process the the parts are optimized using FEA. The design follows requirement inputs from other subteams.

Rocket Engine Testing Team

The responsibility of the Rocket Engine Testing Team is to set-up a test bench, the required electronics and data analysis tools, a propellant manufacturing infrastructure and conduct static firing tests.

Teamleaders

The teamleader’s responsibility is to lead and manage one of the rocket technical team’s (Simulations, Structures, Control, Recovery, Telemetry) and build the link between project management, system engineering, operations and the technical subteam.

Control Team

The team builds a control system enabling our rocket to reach its apogee as precisely as possible. The tasks consists of the implementation of a control system enabling our rocket to reach its apogee as precisely as possible.

Telemetry Team

The responsibility of the Telemetry Team consists of the implementation of the communication systems to provide a data link and information from the rocket under operational conditions to a ground station.
