System Engineer Hybrid Rocket Engine
Description

Our student initiative is based at ETH Zürich (Hönggerberg) and inspires students across Switzerland in hands-on space engineering challenges through collaboration with academia and industry.

Beside the rocket projects going to the Spaceport America Cup, ARIS established in 2018 a research project to develop, build and test a hybrid rocket engine. For the second round, an interdisciplinary core team of up to 15 students is formed to enhance and test the design of the first generation engine!

As one of the system engineers you are in charge of the overall technical hybrid engine development and design. Your main responsibility is to work together with the Project Manager on the organizational side, as well as having the technical view over the whole system. Other tasks include:

  • Define, track and ensure compliance of the systems and subsystems requirements
  • Track the overview of the system – Keep the big picture of the system in mind
  • Set up system specifications, analyzing and setting engine parameters
  • Coordinate the technical progress and testing activities – keep track of timelines
  • Ensure compatibility of all sub-systems by tracking the interfaces
  • Enhance the overall rocket concept and design
  • Organize manufacturing and assembly
Expectations

From each our team members we expect:

  • We expect you to spend 2-3 days a week on the project and be able to join team meetings and workshops in Zurich
  • Be proactive and able to take responsibility

  • You don’t have to be a specialist yet but you are willing to become one!
