Safety Officer Rocket Project

Our student initiative is based at ETH Zürich (Hönggerberg) and inspires students across Switzerland in hands-on space engineering challenges through collaboration with academia and industry.

Our rocket project goes into the 3rd round: Following project HEIDI, ARIS participates at the Spaceport America Cup (SPAC) 2020 in New Mexico. For this, an interdisciplinary core team of 15-20 students is formed that designs, builds and competes at the Cup!

As safety officer your main responsibility is to ensure a safe and reliable working environment. Tasks include:

  • Review test procedures
  • Maintain a critical view
  • Identify and mitigate risks
  • Push the team to maintain safety standards
  • Write safety procedures
  • Attend and monitor tests
  • Work together with the whole rocket team and other ARIS teams

From each our team members we expect:

  • We expect you to spend 2-3 days a week on the project and be able to join team meetings and workshops in Zurich
  • Be proactive and able to take responsibility
  • Act responsible, accurate and critical
  • Be and operate organized and structured
  • Fail, get up and learn from it
  • Have a flair to interact and communicate with an interdisciplinary team
  • You don’t have to be a specialist yet but you are willing to become one!
